Build a Castle is an icebreaker activity where teams must physically build a castle-like structure from wooden blocks as close as possible to the plans, which only their communication officer can see.

Everything you need to know about Build a Castle team building activity

Teams must work together with their communication officer, who is only contactable by radio, to reconstruct a castle according to the plan.

However, only the communication officer can see the plan so the officer must communicate the design of the castle to the team effectively.

This activity can be combined with other activities for a longer event.

What happens during Build a Castle team building activity

Each team must first choose a team leader. This person is then sent a distance away with a folder containing detailed images and a radio. They then must race against the clock or an opposing team to communicate the images to the rest of their team on how to build the structure exactly as the plan provided.

In order to be successful, teams must work together and communicate via radio effectively to build their castle as close to the plan as possible.

The radio will pass between the team building the castle every two minutes to ensure all team members participate.
